Contiguity
We are so close together we almost touch
Our skin is in the space between us, that’s all.
Breathing requires sharing our air
I breathe in as you breathe out.
If and when you move, I must
The friction causes heat.
We are to each other
Even with our eyes wide open, blind.
Without the other in our face
You’d never know we’re here.
Feeling alone suggests there is
Another way to feel.
